Exciting news! The Queen Elizabeth II (QE2) ship has opened to the public in Dubai today!

The iconic ship was bought by Dubai over 10 years ago, and has been a work-in-progress until today, when it opened to the public as a "floating hotel".

It's hope that the ship - now docked at Mina Rashid in Dubai - will become a popular dining and entertainment destination in the city.

“It’s like walking into a time capsule — this is the ship in 1969. It’s a hotel and a museum,” Hamza Mustafa, the CEO of Dubai’s Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corp.’s investment arm, told the Washington Post. “We’ve put in 2.7 million man hours working on her ... making sure that she can really shine.”

“She’s going to live on for many more years now in her final home in Dubai,” he then went on to say.
