Strange Celebrity Friendships
David Beckham and Snoop Dogg
We’re not too surprised that anyone should want to be friends with David, yet we were a little shocked to hear that Snoop and Golden Balls are so close that the rapper ensures the footballer is the first to hear his music. Snoop said, “David loves my music. When I make my records, he’s one of the first people I send the record to before it’s done, even before the label get it.” Adding, “He’s a great father, a great husband and a great friend, I love our friendship and some people in life just come together for some odd reason.” Their relationship perhaps went a little weird when it was rumoured they were to design a baby clothing line together. Snoop continued, “I love designing baby clothes and baby shoes with David. It will be very famous.” We think they should go get a room!
50 Cent and Bette Midler
Bette’s always been a legend but her friendship with rapper 50 Cent has just made her one of the coolest celebs in Hollywood. However, their unlikely relationship has had the opposite effect on Fiddy’s rep with one of his outraged entourage members slating, “F*** Bette”. The pair became long-term pals after working together on an environmental project organised by the actress. 50 said, “When Bette calls you don’t say ‘no.’ Not if you want your reputation to stay the way it is.” Talking about the possibility of collaborating together he enthused, “Absolutely.” While the 65-year-old joked, “He’s producing my next record. I will be rapping. He’s writing a song for me right now.” Before adding, “He’s such a doll. I love him. He’s gorgeous.”
Chris Martin and Simon Pegg
This secret friendship only came to light three months ago when the pair got up on stage and did an impromptu gig together in memory of friends who used to drink at a local English pub. While it seemed like just one of those odd moments it transpires they’ve been besties for a long time, so long in fact that Simon is actually godfather to Chris and wife Gywn Paltrow’s daughter Apple. Si confirmed, “Chris Martin’s a good friend of mine. I’m actually Apple’s godfather. He’s an old friend and we’ve been mates for quite a few years now.”
Eminem and Jonathan Ross
The bad boy rap star and the charismatic British comedian hit it off after meeting on Jonathan’s former chat show. After discovering they shared a similar sense of humour and a passion for comics, Eminem visited the presenter’s house after the show and they’ve been pals ever since with the pair often exchanging pricey gifts – Ross once gave Mr Slim Shady a vintage comic worth Dhs6,000 from his own private collection! After a night of male bonding over classic mags, an excited Jonathan Tweeted, “Had great fun with the guests and rapper Eminem came back to mine to look at comics. I have an awful lot of comics. I gave him Avengers 3 from my own private collection.”
Paris Hilton and Sarah Brown
One’s a partying socialite who craves attention the other is a charity-loving wife of a former British PM. Not only is it bizarre that the two should ever meet but to be pals just takes it to a whole new stratosphere of strange! The pair apparently hit it off after Sarah accompanied her husband Gordon Brown on a Prime Minister duty in Los Angeles. The former PM’s wife said of Paris, “Nothing about her public image prepares you for the first meeting. She’s a smart, caring, considerate person.” Paris said of her buddy, “Sarah is such a smart, beautiful and inspirational woman.” Ahh!
Mel Gibson and Britney Spears
With both experienced in having their troubled lifestyles splashed across the press, Mel and Brit no doubt have a lot in common. Mel was a rock to Brit when she hit her all time low a few years ago, and more recently, during Mel’s tumultuous period, the Toxic singer was his “only pal”. A source revealed, “Mel was one of the only people who reached out to help Britney when she was at her lowest point, and she believes that demonstrates what a loving and wonderful man he is. She wants people to give him a second chance – just like he gave her.”
Prince Harry and Charlize Theron and Cameron Diaz
It’s no secret that Prince Harry has an eye for leggy blondes so we guess his schmoozing with Hollywood starlets Charlize Theron and Cameron Diaz shouldn’t be too surprising. Fresh from splitting with his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy, the ginger royal enjoyed a cosy chinwag with South African beauty Charlize at the Audi Challenge Polo Cup.
Party-loving Harry struck up a friendship with fitness mad Cam after becoming gym buddies. Sharing a similar passion for sport they’ve remained good pals. A source said, “They were pounding along on adjacent treadmills and Harry cheekily nudged-up Cam’s speed dial, suggesting a one kilometre race. Cameron agreed... and won. They’ve become pretty friendly - Harry even invited her out drinking with him and his Sloaney chums.”
Robbie Williams and Princess Beatrice
This is weird on sooo many levels. Beatrice and Robbie became friends a few years ago after, wait for it, they were introduced by Sarah Ferguson. A source said, “Robbie gets on really well with Beatrice. He treats her like a little sister and looks after her. It’s really sweet.” The singer is best buddies with Bea’s mum Fergie after hitting it off while on holiday in the Caribbean. They’ve been inseparable since. A source said, “Robbie and his wife Ayda really hit it off with Fergie. Robbie has been telling everyone how much he likes her.” Adding, “A few of Robbie’s football pals were round the other week and Fergie was just wandering about in her robe. She came and said hello and was really charming.”
