Could this be Dubai’s poshest hotel room? You betcha! The St Regis’ Sir Winston Churchill suite opened its doors last week in the presence of Randolph Churchill, Winston’s great grandson.

At 913sqm the two-storey, three-bedroom suite is even bigger than the Astor Ballroom (which is 800sqm). Situated on the hotel’s top floors, the rooms display art from the Churchill archives, housing a collection of 15 pieces that include portraits and photographs of the legendary statesman, a well-preserved Cuban cigar that once belonged to him, and paintings he mastered himself.

Most famous for leading his country to victory in WWII, Churchill was also an accomplished artist who produced more than 500 canvases, despite being 40 years-old when he discovered the joy of painting; he even exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

His hotel suite homage boasts a vast living room, a 12-seater dining room, study, lounge and spacious majlis, a master bedroom with an en suite featuring a free-standing tub and two further bedrooms with en suites, plus the pièce de résistance: a majestic in-room spiral staircase that leads into the central dome of the hotel, where a rooftop plunge pool reveals panoramic views of the surrounds.
