We wonder if Texas lead singer Sharleen Spiteri is a golf fan? She is Scottish..

Rock group Texas are set to get the party going at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters 2014, one of the biggest sporting events on the Qatar calendar.

To be held over four days from Wednesday 22 January to Saturday 25 January at Doha Golf Club, this year’s event promises to keep both golf fans and music fans very happy.

Texas, one of the most iconic bands of the nineties, will be playing some of their biggest hits as well as offerings from their new album The Conversation during a concert at the public village on the evening of Friday 24 January. The Thursday evening show will have more of a disco flavour thanks to performances from the Seventies Divas of Soul, Kathy Sledge, the voice of Sister Sledge, and Gwen Dickey, the voice of Rose Royce.

The Masters is one of the key events of the European Tour’s three-week Middle East stint, with a prize pool of $2.5 million. The on-course action this year is expected to be particularly intense as Englishman Chris Wood returns to Doha to defend his 2013 title against a field which includes Scotland’s Paul Lawrie, the 2012 Qatar Masters champion, and Spain’s Sergio Garcia. Check out www.qatar-masters.com for player updates in the leadup to the tournament.
