It might be in the yet-to-fully-develop Al Barsha area, but Prego’s is a must-visit eatery that will transport your taste buds to the culinary heart of Italy. The restaurant itself has the informal air you’d expect of the Mediterranean theme – you can choose to sit at a table or in the more relaxed sofa area, and black and white films from yesteryear are screened on TVs, adding a touch of nostalgia. While the broad menu features everything from pasta, risotto, salads, seafood and even steak, the pizzas are arguably the most popular among diners – and with good reason.
With the best assortment of Italian cured meats we’ve encountered in the UAE, the pizzas are served the way their creators intended them to be – with light, crispy bases and uncomplicated with a small selection of high quality toppings.
The Italians are renowned for their warm hospitality and this ethos extends to Prego’s. Requested variations to dishes are handled with good grace, food recommendations are refreshingly honest, and we’re even told that a rendition of “Happy Birthday” by the wait staff is forthcoming to those celebrating their birthday at the venue!
