Radio Diaries: A Royal Interview

This week we experienced one of the biggest things to have happened on the show. It was a great honour to be given the opportunity to interview Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Hussein, the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Princess Haya described her average day, saying: “We have breakfast together when we can, then His Highness will try and do the school run. I also try to find an hour to go running. Dinner is at 5.30pm on school nights and I like to be there and do the bath and bed routine with my children.” Her Highness added, “After they go to bed at 7.30pm, I catch up on work or reading and relaxing. I’m usually in bed by 10pm and then it’s the next day.” We also talked about what the UAE and its leaders have been doing in Haiti as they sent over planes with resources. Princess Haya was there to oversee, given her role as a UN Messenger of Peace. Her Highness told us of Sheikh Mohammed’s remarkable efforts to shape the country and how he’s helped to make it what it is today. We all think Princess Haya is a remarkable woman.

I also got to meet the UFC Champion of the World, Michael Bisping, who’s an amazing guy. He’s determined to retain that title and he’s also ready to defend it! Three weeks ago, he took on a fight that left him with a detached retina, which he’s still recovering from, which is not easy for a professional fighter. He came to Dubai to officially open the UFC gyms in the Middle East.
