Beverly Hills police officials have confirmed reports that Whitney Houston’s body was found underwater in the bathtub of the Beverly Hilton Hotel on 11 February. The superstar was preparing to appear at her mentor Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy Awards party when her bodyguard found her.
An autopsy conducted on 12 February proved inconclusive, though no signs of trauma or foul play were found. Now, officials are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine the cause of death.
Whitney’s funeral has been planned for Friday, 17 February – she will be laid to rest in her native New Jersey. Her body is expected to be transported to America's East Coast on Tyler Perry's private jet, after he offered the use of his aircraft to Houston's grieving relatives.
A wake for the singer is being planned for Thursday, 16 February, while a funeral service will take place at the Prudential Center arena in Newark.
It has also emerged that Whitney's 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, who was hospitalised a day after the singer's death, suffered a nervous breakdown.
Whitney's bodyguard Ray Watson's brother Billy told UsMagazine.com, "Everything (was) stressful. Her mama died, so she broke down. Nobody expected her to pass as quickly as she did. She (Bobbi Kristina) had a nervous breakdown."
Bobbi Kristina was released under the care of her father - Houston's ex-husband Bobby Brown - and Watson, who is also an extended member of the star's family, insists she's already on the mend.
He added, "[She is] OK now. She's alright."
