Madiba: Idris Elba's new film has cancelled a screening at DIFF out of respect for Nelson Mandela

A press screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom at Dubai International Film Festival has been cancelled out of respect for the late great political leader.

As a mark of respect following the passing of Nelson Mandela, media activities surrounding today’s screening have been attuned accordingly. The epic movie was due to be shown at 10am, but has been cancelled with ticket holders asked to attend the evening screening at 8.30pm instead.

Some of the film’s stars, including British actress Naomie Harris, Lindiwe Matshikiza and Sello Hatang, were due to appear at a press conference and photo call, but that will now be rescheduled to later in the week.

The Red Carpet will also be closed to all photographers and videographers for the gala screening, and no photography or videography will be permitted within DIFF HQ between 7:30pm and 11pm.
