Abu Dhabi residents, there's about to be an influx of traffic in Al Zahiyah.

This is due to road works taking place in the area, formerly known as Tourist Club. Motorists have been wrned to drive with caution and expect more traffic while construction is taking place.

The Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT) at Abu Dhabi City Municipality, in coordination with Abu Dhabi Police, have notified the public that the first stage of road works have started in Al Zahiya along 10th Street, reports Khaleej Times.

The first stage of road works will affect the residential area of Sector E-14 from July 16, 2017 to March 2018, and traffic will be diverted to Al Ferdous Street, converting it into a two-way street during the duration of the detour.

In a tweet, DMAT also announced that during the second stage of road works, direct access to Beach Rotana, Abu Dhabi Mall, Le Meridian and Sector E-14 residential area will be diverted to Al Ferdous Street.   

The second stage of road works is expected to start at the end of this month.
