According to health boffins, the reason most diets fail is because when we don’t see results, we get bored and slip back into our unhealthy eating habits. But with a slimmer you promised in just two weeks on the Special K plan, you’ll be encouraged to keep up your healthier new lifestyle.
How It Works
Rather than starving yourself, the plan advocates eating when you are hungry – snacking on fruit or Special K bars (up to two 90-cal bars a day) in between meals. With a 45g bowl of Special K for breakfast, you can then choose to have Special K again for lunch or dinner, selecting a healthy meal of your choice for the third meal (see box out for healthy meal ideas). This ensures flexibility – if you’re going out for dinner, for example, have your second bowl at lunch, and vice versa. You can also add variety (and keep youself feeling fuller, longer) by adding chopped fruit such as banana, to your Special K, or trying one of the Red Berry, Bliss or the new Oats and Honey varieties. To get the most from the plan, it’s also advised that you do at least 30 minutes of exercise three times a week.

Healthy Meal Options
With Special K twice a day, keep the third meal healthy with these delicious recipe ideas from Kellogs…
Thai chicken wrap (shredded chicken, one teaspoon of Thai curry paste, one tablespoon of low-fat mayo, flour tortilla, lettuce, tomatoes, grated carrot). Follow with a low-fat yoghurt and a piece of fruit.
Toasted sandwiches (granary bread, lean turkey, low-fat cheese slices, tomato, served with a fresh green salad).
Tuna and sweetcorn pizza (sliced English muffin, tomato puree, sweetcorn, 60g grated cheese, 120g of tuna in brine, drained, grilled for 10 minutes. Follow with a low-fat rice pudding for dessert.
Pitta pockets with lamb and tzatziki (grilled cubes of lean lamb served in wholemeal pitta bread with natural yoghurt, grated cucumber, crushed garlic and chopped mint, plus tomatoes, red onion and lettuce.) Follow with a Special K cereal bar for dessert.
Mushroom risotto (1.5 pints of vegetable stock, a chopped onion, chopped mushrooms and a clove of chopped garlic, plus 220g of Arborio rice).
Lamb casserole (Two lean lamb steaks, one chopped onion, one can of tomatoes and a teaspoon of mustard cooked in a casserole dish for 1hr 15 minutes, served with two or three boiled new potatoes.)
Lentil and vegetable curry (chopped onion, garlic and veg, one can of mixed lentils, one can of tomatoes, half a tablespoon of curry power, one teaspoon of ground coriander, simmer for 15 minutes. Serve with 60g of boiled or steamed rice).
