Lady Gaga credits Tony Bennett for saving her career

Lady Gaga wowed Dubai at the Meydan Racecourse this week, however the pop star has revealed she almost called time on her own career, after a series of setbacks and personal troubles.

Speaking to Parade Magazine, Gaga revealed how she was too sad to perform after a hip injury left the star wheelchair bound. It was only when she teamed up with Tony Bennett on her Cheek to Cheek album that the Poker Face star decided to return to music: "Six months ago I didn't even want to sing anymore... I tell Tony every day that he saved my life...I'm not going to say any names, but people get irrational when it comes to money - with how they treat you, with what they expect from you. But, if you help an artist, it doesn't give you the right, once the artist is big, to take advantage of them".

The controversial pop star also revealed how her depression was so bad, she couldn't perform basic functions saying; "I was so sad. I couldn't sleep. I felt dead. And then I spent a lot of time with Tony. He wanted nothing but my friendship and my voice."

Gaga also revealed that Bennett helped her revaluate her life, after it descended into chaos, by offering her relationship advice with boyfriend Taylor Kinney "I thought I did (want kids)... I was feeling kind of finished with all of the chaos of my life... But then I started to spend a lot more time with Tony and everything just became simpler, more pure, and more perfect...Now I'm going to take a lot more time before I have kids and settle down. I just want to sing."

The pop superstar is currently half way through a world tour for her third album, Artpop which reached number 1 on charts around the world.
