Kris Fade's Diary
I spent a wonderful four days over Eid in Paris with my wife, Maz. I hadn’t been for 10 years and it’s such a beautiful city. We did all the touristy stuff – the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe… and I also visited Virgin Radio Paris! I met the DJs who do the breakfast show, and discovered their studios are rather different from ours out in the desert at Studio City. Their base is on one of the richest streets in the world, Rue du Fauborg Saint-Honoré, which is home to all the designer stores like Gucci and Chanel. The DJs were telling me that when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West visited recently they were constantly up and down the street shopping! I have to say though, Parisian prices are ridiculous. We went into some vintage shops, and I don’t know if they were just trying to get rid of us, but everything was so expensive. I much prefer H&M! We did, however, splash out by dining at L’Avenue restaurant where Kim and Kanye also ate. The food was amazing; it was the best risotto I’ve ever had. The service was just shocking though, but that’s Paris. However, I had a bit of a drama heading home to Dubai as my visa had expired! I had to negotiate my way through passport control and we had to be escorted to the plane and nearly missed it. I thought about that Tom Hanks film, The Terminal, but thankfully I didn’t end up living at the airport.
