Kelsey Grammer "extraordinarily" stormed out of a TV studio before a scheduled interview after seeing a picture of his former wife.

The 57-year-old actor was due to be interviewed by Piers Morgan, but became uncomfortable when a photograph of his ex-wife Camille was aired at the start of the CNN show.

Piers took to Twitter to share his bemusement at Kelsey's reaction.

"Kelsey Grammer was supposed to be on my show now but ran out of the building. Strange. Kelsey Grammer saw a photo of his ex-wife Camille in the open to our show and legged it. Extraordinary. Never had this happen before," he wrote.

"I had a very friendly chat with Kelsey backstage. He said he was really looking forward to the interview. Weird. I like Kelsey Grammer personally, but this was a shockingly unprofessional thing to do. I wasn't even going to mention his ex-wife!"

However, Kelsey's representative released a statement to US website TMZ about the situation, blaming Piers for his apparent lack of awareness surrounding the sore subject.

"Piers needs to take responsibility for what he did to Kelsey. It's called accountability," the statement read.

The divorce between Kelsey and his ex-wife was finalised last February, and the stars have since been embroiled in a bitter custody battle over their two children. It was recently revealed that Kelsey is "very close" to inking a settlement with Camille - who will reportedly receive around $30 million.
