K-Midd Stops Prince Charles Seeing Baby George
As the future King of England, Prince Charles can do pretty much anything he wants and it seems there’s little the 66-year-old can’t make happen – except seeing his only grandson. That’s right, according to Charles and those around him, Prince George is unable to visit his granddad as often as his royal relatives would like – and fingers are pointing firmly at “independent” Kate Middleton and her clan.
March of the Middletons
It’s no secret that Kate, 33, wants her son George to have as normal a life as possible, but surely keeping him away from one of his grandfathers can’t be good thing. Charles is said to have grown increasingly frustrated at not seeing the tot and friends say the prince “almost never” gets to play with him. Kate is seen as the prominent decision maker in the family and it’s thought the move to shove Prince Charles into the sidelines is her doing, under the influence of her meddlesome mum, Carole. The Daily Mail newspaper wrote: “In fact, so vexed is Charles about the so-called ‘March of the Middletons’ that he has complained to friends “They never let me see my grandson.”
It also quoted a regal source as saying: “Carole has rather taken over, dictating when George naps, when and what he eats – all in all, behaving like she’s Queen Carole.” Adding fuel to the fire, a Clarence House spokesperson refused to clarify when Charles and George last met, issuing the statement: “We would not comment on the specifics of private arrangements.”
Prince Charles is Hurt
As Kate seemingly pushes Prince Charles away, she’s been giving her own family more time with her son. As if holidaying with Carole and Michael a few times a year isn’t enough, Its rumoured that her parents plan to move in with Wills and Kate at their Norfolk Anmer Hall estate. Of course, K-Midd is probably thrilled to have her mum around as she prepares to give birth to her second child, but the decision to have the Middletons living on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate has left a bitter taste in Prince Charles’ mouth. Several Anmer House staff quit last month, and with loyal servants who can keep schtum seemingly in short supply, Carole’s stepped up to the plate. According to sources, she’ll take charge of housekeeping, while Michael will tackle a mole problem in the garden. Although Mike’s role might not seem that interesting, it’s another smack in the face for poor Prince Charles, a famously passionate gardener.
Despite all the kerfuffle, Charles is still excited about welcoming his second grandchild, telling well-wishers at a recent royal engagement: “I’m happy I’m going to be a grandfather again. I’m looking forward to it, but I hope it will be a girl this time.”
Cover Girl Kate: Anna Wintour wants K-Midd on Vogue
It’s fair to say K-Midd isn’t the shrinking violet the Royal Family had hoped for, but her confidence is the very asset that’s endeared her to fashion’s most powerful player. Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour wants Kate to be her cover girl and is said to be desperate to woo the duchess in time for the mag’s infamous September issue.
What Wintour Wants…
A source shared: “Anna knows landing Kate for the September issue would be a huge coup, especially since Prince William’s wife has never done a magazine feature for a US publication. The focus of Kate’s feature would be her numerous charity endeavours, which Anna has conveyed to Kate’s staff.” Anna, herself a Brit, hopes to seal the deal to boost sales and win back snootier readers put off by last year’s notorious Kim and Kanye cover.
The insider told gossip site RadarOnline.com: “Since Anna is British, she feels a kinship with Kate and has promised she would have full control over the accompanying photo shoot. Kate could choose the photographer, journalist and location for the piece. Anna has been trying for the last two years to get Kate to agree and she’s always refused. But this time Anna has stepped up the campaign and is now enlisting her numerous high-powered connections.”
Kate Beats Kim
The source continued: “Having Kate on the cover would silence all of the critics who were up in arms after Kim and Kanye appeared on the cover. Anna was very well aware that putting a reality star on the cover would alienate some diehard Vogue readers.” The 65-year-old star’s now planning to have tea with Kate “in the next few months” as she’s not “used to being told no and is determined to get Kate to agree”.
