Jay Z Lights Up Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix Concert
Hanging around with Chris Martin has obviously paid off for Jay Z as the rapper borrowed an idea from Coldplay on Friday (1 November) night in the UAE. The 43-year-old gifted each fan at du Arena a blue wristband that flashed brightly during his performance at the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix pre-race concert.
Although a power cut had temporarily stopped the show, the crowd went wild as Jay rapped his global smash Empire State of Mind during the close of his set.
With the music pumping and the lights flashing, the good vibes were felt all over the arena as everyone chanted along to the chart topping song.
Coldplay first debuted the flashing wristband, which they call the Xyloband, during their world tour in 2012, and clearly Jay was a big fan of the little devices. However, it’s unlikely he’ll keep them as a permanent fixture because Chris Martin said they are rather costly to give out.
He'd dished to NME last year, “Most of the money we're earning on the tour is put into the wristbands. We have to figure out how to keep it going without going broke because it's a crucial part of the concert.”
