Jamie Dornan Walks Away From Fifty Shades Of Grey Sequels?
It’s been a ridiculous box-office smash, but it looks like leading man Jamie Dornan won’t be reprising his role as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey – and his wife is being saddled with the blame.
According to a piece by Australian magazine NW, there are two sequels to the film in the pipeline – but the Irish actor has allegedly already told film bosses he’s not going to be around for them. And according to insider gossip, it’s because his wife, actress Amelia Warner, has put her foot down.
"Jamie said the movie would skyrocket his career" said the source. "He tried to assure Amelia nothing would change, but women all over the world now [fancy] Jamie. She hasn’t seen the film – and I don’t think she will to be honest."
By all accounts, Fifty Shades wasn’t the most fun and artistically rewarding films to make, either. There have already been reports that female director Sam Taylor-Johnson isn’t making any plans to return for Fifty Shades Darker or Fifty Shades Freed, after endless arguments with writer EL James. And the chemistry between Dornan and co-star Dakota Johnson wasn’t brilliant. "Jamie doesn't think his performance was bad – instead he blames Dakota and says it wasn't possible to have chemistry with her," said the insider. "Jamie says Dakota gave him nothing to work with."
The sequel was reportedly due to start filming in Vancouver, Canada in June. Now it looks like it might be, ahem, tied up for a little while.
