With its clean, calm and neatly contemporary décor, Zuma is one of the city’s high-spots when it comes to Japanese cuisine. The fine-dining restaurant which opened in September 2008 offers a sophisticated philosophy when it comes to the menu, which is inspired by the informal Japanese dining style called Izakaya. The dishes are a simple but cleverly integrated blend of authentic Japanese ingredients and cooking methods that have been developed by Zuma’s international chefs, all of whom have trained in Japan. The service is warm, friendly and attentive, while the ambiance is one of chilled out elegance, which is hardly surprising, considering the award-winning Japanese designer, Noriyoshi Muramatsu, creator of London’s Zuma, has cast his expert spell on Dubai’s restaurant too. The minimalist chic inspired by earth, fire, water and air has attracted celebrities including Victoria Beckham, Maroon 5 and Amr Diab, all of who are big fans of Zuma’s signature dishes, which include the delectable tuna tataki, barley miso marinated baby chicken and spicy beef, which is seared under the grill, oven baked and then served on cedar wood.
