Serving traditional and authentic Persian cuisine in the awe-inspiring setting of the Emirates Palace Hotel, it’s hardly surprising that Anar is guaranteed to deliver an exceptional dining experience. The interior is rich and vibrant, with bold reds and warm stone set beneath the bright, mosaic ceiling which creates a salubrious, intimate atmosphere. Dressed in their traditional peasant attire of bright reds and jaunty hats, the waiters are almost a performance in themselves. Reassuringly, they certainly know their menu, which is an interesting departure from the usual Middle Eastern fayre on offer. The kufte ye anar o pest – which translates as lamb with almonds, pistachios and herbs, which is then slow-cooked in a pomegranate broth is as sublime as it sounds, where as the shaname kebab, which is marinated beef tenderloin, is melt-in-the-mouth succulent. The selection of aromatic rice dishes, freshly baked Iranian bread and the delicious varieties of meat and fish dishes makes this a perfect venue for family celebrations and romantic suppers alike.
