MEDIA'S MOGUL OF THE FUTURE
If the name Michael Lahyani is not familiar, it should be. The young and sociable entrepreneur is the CEO of the Swiss Media Group, who, with his business partner, recently sold a share of their company to media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Did we mention Michael is just 27? Having first visited Dubai four years ago when he was running his first publication Equestrio, an equestrian sports magazine in his home country of Switzerland, it made sense to launch an Arabian edition. So the young businessman started the ball rolling. "Four years on and I can honestly say that it was among the best decisions I've made so far in my career," says the man behind several glossy mags and one of the UAE's biggest property sites,
www.propertyfinder.ae. "Dubai is tricky, it requires a lot of hard work and self discipline because this city has so many distractions that you can lose your focus if you're not careful. Socialising is great, but don't lose track of why you're here. We all came for a specific reason and to accomplish something, and nothing happens without hard work."
