Within just six months of setting up Special Occasions Party Planning and Events, Aussie-born Sophie Bogdis has managed to work on mega events for Sony Music, royal weddings and the Formula One Abu Dhabi Ball. She never imagined her company would accelerate at such a great speed, particularly as she originally came to Dubai five years ago to work in luxury retail.
“I’m not sure how party planning came about. I think it had something to do with the fact all my friends and family saw how much I loved planning events and said I should do it for a living. So here I am today achieving much more than I ever imagined. The best part is making other people’s lives easier and putting big smiles on their faces.”
The bubbly brunette simply adores her life in Dubai and at just 25 she’s a company owner – something many of her peers back home in Australia would be hard-pressed to boast. “Opportunities that would be impossible anywhere else in the world are possible here, from employment opportunities to having the world’s biggest everything at our feet.”
“Last year was an amazing year for me. Although there were tough times, which made me question where I was heading, each step taught me something new and made me more confident. Going into 2011, I feel secure and strong and can’t wait to make this year a truly amazing one. You really can do everything you put your mind to if you believe in yourself.”
