The Indian-born designer has created something of a tsunami, rather than merely made waves since pursuing her dream to become internationally recognised in the fashion industry. Already extremely successful as the global advisor for the GT&T Group – part of a family-run conglomerate of diverse business interests around the world – the fashion graduate divided her time between running her part of the group while designing couture pieces, which she sold privately up until last year.

Drawing on the inspiration of fashion legends such as Coco Chanel and Alexander McQueen, Hema swiftly gained fame for her chic and classic designs. Having put her own personal passion for fashion on the back burner while she raised her three children, Hema seized the opportunity to showcase her designs on a global platform in 2013. It was no ordinary debut, however, unveiling her first complete international collection at London Fashion Week. The wait was worth it, with her work receiving worldwide critical acclaim, and being featured on the hallowed pages of Vogue, Glamour, Marie Claire and Grazia. Her Dubai debut followed at Fashion Forward, with Bollywood starlets Neha Dhupia and Sophie Choudry modelling her creations, leading the way as the first of her celebrity followers.
