All White On The Night
After swearing for years that he'd never marry again, George Clooney said goodbye to life as a bachelor in favour of making Amal Alamuddin the new Mrs Clooney. The Monuments Men actor turned to his Hollywood background for inspiration and opted for a classic all-white wedding.

George Gets Jazzed Up!
George and Amal went for a white theme at their wedding, although they had an official civil ceremony two days later, with the 53-year-old and his human-rights lawyer bride, 36, saying "I do" at the luxury Aman Canal Grande resort in Venice last Saturday night. The happy couple married on a podium that was placed in front of a large wall of white candles, all before around 100 guests. The venue had been decorated with matching white roses, lilies and carnations and there was a multitude of hand-crafted candles. Guests reportedly sipped on numerous bottles of bubbly and red vino and the party continued past midnight, with George, Amal and their guests celebrating to a background of disco and jazz music.

The Stars Came Calling
The smartly dressed guests were greeted at the venue by staff, who were wearing traditional Venetian gondolier outfits, including straw boater hats and white shirts. As the celebrities arrived, there were loud cheers from the crowds of fans waiting outside, with U2 frontman Bono getting an especially warm reception. George, who wore a black tuxedo, and Amal, who reportedly sported an Alexander McQueen dress, were joined by a slew of celebrities including BFF Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber, who owns a distilling business with Clooney, Matt Damon and his wife Luciana, Emily Blunt, Bill Murray, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. The marriage between the pair was confirmed simply in a statement from George’s representative that read: "George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were married today in a private ceremony in Venice, Italy."

Who Was Missing?
There may have been many stars at the wedding, but some celebs were noticeably absent...

Name: Brangelina
Where were they? Malta
Excuse: The world’s most famous husband and wife are thought to have been busy filming their new flick By The Sea together, although some parties suspect Brad attended alone and kept a very low-profile.

Name: Ben Affleck
Where was he? Detroit
Excuse: Ben is busy on the set of action blockbuster Batman v Superman, and was unable to get time off.

Name: Sandra Bullock
Where was she? New Orleans
Excuse: Sandra was filming Our Brand in Crisis, which George is actually producing.

Name: Tilda Swinton
Where was she? Travelling the world
Excuse: Tilda is promoting new movie Only Lovers Left Alive at various film festivals.

Name: Jeff Bridges
Where was he? San Francisco
Excuse: Jeff attended a star-studded memorial service for the late comedian and actor Robin Williams.

Clooney Lays Down The Law
Amal and George made sure everyone followed their strict rules.
George made sure he arrived at his wedding in stylish, yet unusual, fashion by speedboat. But the fun stopped there as Clooney and Amal set up a series of rules and orders, which everyone was instructed to abide by after their initial wedding plans fell through at the last second.

Vogue editor Anna will feature the wedding in her magazine

No Signal Allowed
Due to the fact that Anna Wintour and Vogue magazine had signed a deal to cover the ceremony exclusively, Clooney and Alamuddin reportedly banned cell phones from their wedding. The couple demanded that all guests keep their mobiles away from the event to stop any information leaking about the highly-anticipated affair, according to British newspaper The Daily Telegraph. The Ocean’s Eleven star and his bride-to-be also vetoed tablet computers, as unauthorised photographs could surface.

Wedding Road Block
It wasn’t just inside the wedding venue that George ruled with an iron fist, as the Hollywood heavyweight used his star power to close Venice’s streets too. The Italian city’s officials confirmed two picturesque walkways alongside the Grand Canal would be cordoned off to keep crowds away from the ceremony so that the walkways that lead up to the 16th Century Cavalli Palace could be kept vacant for “the George Clooney Wedding”.

The Battle of Venice
It wasn't all plain sailing for the duo, however and the couple were forced to switch their wedding venue after coming up against a man with even more power and influence than George. Amal reportedly had her heart set on the luxurious Hotel Cipriani, but lost out to Italian businessman, Mauro Marchiaro and his fiancée Barbara Ciocca. A hotel spokesman confirmed to The Sun: "We have an event on Saturday that was pre-planned and we also have events for George Clooney's party." Mauro's mother added: "We were all just looking forward to a nice quiet wedding but now we have George Clooney to contend with. It's going to be a nightmare."

Amal may have upset her friends

Amal Snubs Old Friends
The human rights lawyer leaves her former friends in exile with wedding cold shoulder.

Almost anyone that speaks about George's wife only ever has positive things to say. Even those who grew up with her are filled with nothing but praise for the lawyer. But there are a few disgruntled former friends that maybe feel "snubbed" by the brunette beauty.

Speaking exclusively to Ahlan!, an insider who studied at Oxford University with Amal explained: "There will probably be some people who were surprised they weren't invited to the wedding, especially because Amal had attended several of their nuptials." The source added: "Certainly there will have been friends disappointed that they were left off the invite list."

Even though our insider was sad to have missed out on the glitzy ceremony, they still spoke fondly of Amal, stating: "Anyone who went to university with Amal will not be surprised to hear that she ended up marrying someone as famous as George. Even as a student she was always immaculately dressed with flawless make-up and you always had that feeling that she'd go on to do some amazing things." Our source thinks that it's George who is the real winner in the relationship. "She has it all! Great looks, a beautiful soul and she's the smartest person ever. She's a great catch."
