Former James Bond Beats Dubai Store
Veteran actor Sir Roger Moore is celebrating after winning his battle to stop a Dubai store from selling foie gras.
The former James Bond star is leading a campaign to urge bosses of top UK department store Fortnum & Mason to stop stocking the controversial pate, and he extended his drive to its new Dubai outlet earlier this month.
His calls for a boycott have succeeded and bosses of the store have scrapped plans to sell the product just weeks before its grand opening.
Moore, who spearheaded the campaign via People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, says, "Fortnum & Mason's decision not to sell foie gras in Dubai represents a significant step in getting this 'torture in a tin' out of all its stores. The company is tacitly acknowledging that this vile victual has no place in its future plans, and the next logical step would be for Fortnum to make this a companywide policy."
It may not be as daring as some of his previous 007 assignments, but this is certainly a mission complete for Sir Roger.
