UAE social media was abuzz last night, with people taking to Twitter, Facebook and even asking on Instastories if others had felt earthquake tremors in the country.

Many had, as an earthquake with a devastating magnitude of 7.3 occured on Iran-Iraq border late Sunday, November 12, killing 210 people and injuring 1,700 in the mountainous region of Iran alone, Iranian state media said according to Khaleej Times

Tremors from the earthquake were felt as far as Turkey's southeastern city of Diyarbakir. UAE residents in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain also felt tremors according to social media posts.

The earthquake's worst damage appears to have occured in Iran's western Kermanshah province, which sits in the Zagros Mountains that divide Iran and Iraq.
