A resolution issued this week has revealed that from now on, Dubai will be declaring its own public holidays, which could mean holiday dates for Dubai residents and the rest of the UAE will differ.

According to a new resolution issued on Tuesday, Dubai’s Department of Human Resources will be announcing their own public holidays.

WAM, the Emirates News Agency, has said of he change in policy, “The Department shall specify the dates concerning the declared holiday, taking into consideration the working mechanisms and hours of governmental bodies and organisations.”

To implement the resolution, the Director General of the Human Resources Department, Dubai, will be issuing necessary circulars to notify the change.

The resolution will come into effect from the date of its issuance. 

Until now, public holidays for both private and public sectors were announced by UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
