Hundreds of hopefuls entered Galeries Lafayette Dubai’s completion to find Dubai’s most stylish residents, but only 10 were lucky enough to win the accolade and a place in the World’s Biggest Fashion Show, Galeries Lafayette’s annual homage to street style and real people.
Naturally, Ahlan! was in the front row (along with some chic French celebs who were surrounded by a gaggle of paps) to see our stylistas strut their stuff. They were joined by tens of other sartorial winners from other Galeries Lafayette regions around the world. To win, entrants posed for pics in stores and their shots were then loaded online and put to the public vote.

The result was an eclectic mix of fashion-savvy folk of all shapes and ages. Like a casting call for a quirky David LaChapelle shoot the winners walked down the runway with surprising professionalism (thanks to a pre-shot training session) in a series of around-the-clock themes: ‘City Slicker’ workwear, ‘Tea Time’ fantasy, ‘Cocktail Time’ frocks, and finally the all-black ensembles of ‘Night Owl’.
The Dubai residents represented the diverse cultures in the melting pot that is the UAE with winners coming from as far and wide as Kenya, Australia, Italy, The Philipines and Lebanon – and their sense of style was just as varied.
