Drones will be able to catch litterbugs

Dubai’s waste management department is carrying out a trial phase where drones can catch litterbugs redhanded. So far, it has recieved positive results and are hoping to invest in more drones for more efficiency.

“We initially purchased the drone to mintor the landfill sites at Al Ghusais, Jebel Ali and Al Warsan” says Abdul Majeed Al Saifaie, director of the Waste Management Department. “This way, we save money and time and drones can reach up to places that we cannot get to.”

These drones will be flying over beaches, deserts, dumpsites and development projects where they will inspect and catch offenders who leave garbage on the floor. They will be monitoring popular campsites as well.
