Downloading Game of Thrones could get you in trouble with the law

The hype surrounding Game of Thrones is unlike any other TV show, that's a well known fact.

The HBO fantasy series, now in it's final season, can be seen exclusively on the TV channel, or its streaming app. However, many don't have a subscription, and turn to torrents to fill the Game of Thrones void in their lives.

While seemingly innocent, downloading illegally is copyright infringement and could land you in some very hot water!

According to The Independent, HBO is cracking down on those downloading the show illegally. The network and its anti-piracy partner, IP Echelon are monitoring popular torrent sites with the intention of taking down the links to the show's episodes.

The network sent messages to internet service providers with details of customers that allegedly use connections for piracy. Below is an excerpt of the warning message:

"HBO owns the copyright or exclusive rights to Game of Thrones, and the unauthorized download or distribution constitutes copyright infringement."

Remember, downloading and uploading torrents is also illegal in the UAE, so be careful people!
