Doing this in any Dubai mall could get you a Dhs2,000 fine

Here's the thing a lot of people still need to understand.

Vaping, or smoking e-cigarettes, by law is still considered smoking! That means any place where smoking conventional cigarettes is prohibited, so is the smoking of e-cigarettes.

This includes malls, so the next time you think of whipping out your vape, bear in mind it could cost you Dhs2,000. That's right, Dubai Municipality will impose a fine of Dhs2,000 on people smoking electronic cigarettes inside shopping malls, according to an official, reports Khaleej Times.

Eng. Redha Salman, Director of Public Health and Safety Department, stressed that both the sales and imports of electronic cigarettes is illegal in the UAE under federal law.

Salman aso said the decision of fining violators came after it was observed that many shopping centres paid no heed to the  violation of the indoor smoking ban, especially with regards to electronic cigarettes.

So next time you're at the mall, watch out!
