Best for: Dull skin, milia (white spots), pigmentation and fine lines; a great pre-wedding facial course for women who prefer not to have invasive treatments.
Duration: In America, where the treatment and the equipment was developed, this facial takes as little as 15 minutes, making it the ultimate lunch-break fix. Here in Dubai, the treatment has been expanded to include a skin-clearing steam and extraction, so you should allow 60 minutes.
Sessions required: Six treatments, one per week, for optimum results – though one treatment works as a spot of premium pampering.
Do it at: Eternal Medspa, Jumeirah Beach Road, Dubai, 04 344 0008, www.eternelmedspa.com.
This treatment is the answer for microdermabrasion fans who love the effects of the treatment, but hate inhaling the mineral powder that’s blasted across the face during it.
With the Diamond Peel HydraFacial, dead skin is removed with a handheld wand that features a suction tip encrusted in crushed diamonds. It’s stroked repeatedly across the surface of the skin, and though this may sound painful, the diamonds are so fine (girl’s best friend, after all) that the roughness level is more ‘cat’s tongue’ than ‘sandpaper’. The dislodged dead skin is then sucked up into a sponge secreted inside the tip.
Afterwards, other wands are used to simultaneously exfoliate the skin while pumping it full of vitamins and hydrating solutions, such as hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally occurring in the skin, giving it plumpness and firmness.
Post-treatment, it’s best to be able to leave the lotions on for the rest of the day without applying makeup and you may have a few lumps and bumps from the extraction, so don’t have this treatment before an important event – especially if the paps will be there! Allow at least two days before debuting your fresh new face.
