David Hasselhoff is Returning to Baywatch
David Hasselhoff is coming to the silver screen!
The actor will be making a cameo appearance in the new Baywatch movie, alongside none other than Zac Efron and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
The 63-year-old led the cast of the original 1990s beach drama series as California lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, and he recently headed to the set of the film adaptation in Savannah, Georgia to shoot a guest appearance.
However, David admits he stepped up his fitness regimen as he prepared to share the screen with former wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne and movie hunk Zac, because he didn't want to look bad beside Baywatch's new leading men.
"It was a lot of fun," David told U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America. "I had to get in pretty good shape because you stand next to The Rock, The Rock is like a man and a half! And Zac is like, right behind him, so I went in the gym and pumped a little bit."
David was also pleasantly surprised to be so warmly welcomed back to the franchise, in which he starred from 1989 to 2000, and he's hoping the reboot will give his career a boost too.
"The best part about it (his movie cameo) is they were really extremely nice and they gave me the respect of the guy who created the role," he smiled, before teasing details about his role. "They were lovely people. I even met The Rock's mum, and it was just really nice to be down there and it gave me a nice feeling about the reboot of the show and I might be back in a different way, and I might be singing, and a lot of things might come out of it."
And David's daughter highly approves of dad's appearance in the Baywatch movie, which is set for release next year.
"I knew that I was going to be compared to the David Hasselhoff of 27 years ago (for the Baywatch movie)..." he told the New York Post. "My daughter said, 'Dad, you pulled it off. You look great.' I trained for that. I knew that for three days I was going to be working next to the Rock and Zac, and they're both in ridiculous shape."
Dwayne takes over the role of Mitch for the Seth Gordon-directed movie, with David making his appearance as an as-yet-unknown character.
We can't wait to see who he'll be playing in the movie adaptation of the show!
