Meal for two at Terra Firma
Terra Firma
Al Badia Golf Club
04 701 1128
Terra Firma - the latest star in the city’s haute cuisine galaxy - has slipped seamlessly into the delicate curved dining room in Al Badia Golf Club, previously occupied by Quattro Italian restaurant. Since the venue changed hands in to the Intercontinental fold, it’s been rebranded and has just re-opened as an upmarket Australian steakhouse.
While Aussie beef may have replaced Italian pasta, the chic and stylish surroundings from the venue’s previous incarnation remain intact. On one side, stunning high ceilings augment the glistening silver wall art, while at the other, the sweeping roof arches towards quiet booths dotted along the back of the dining room, cocooning diners under a giant luxe shell. At the front, floor to ceiling windows lead out on to the balcony with panoramic views over the golf course beyond – the perfect spot for al fresco dining on a balmy evening
With a menu featuring an exclusive range of David Blackmore Wagyu, along with some of Australia’s best steaks, washed down with fine Aussie wine, of course, this is a cut above the standard rib eye and chips fare.
And the quality of the produce is evident in the taste. From starters of melt-in-your-mouth sashimi of Blackmore beef to mains of tender and flavoursome Blackmore rib eye, accompanied by a deliciously fluffy veloute of Princess La Ratte potato, this is a steak-lovers paradise. Add in to the mix a scrummy yet sour palette-cleansing basil sorbet and lime gratinee between courses, and a light and creamy celeriac brulee with Morel mushroom just for starters, and your taste-buds will be begging for mercy.
And that’s before you’ve teased them with dessert. From bitter chocolate cappuccino with sweet brioche to Black Forest cake, the devilishly sweet treats on offer are just too good to pass up – so don’t!
