A meal for two at Verre
Hilton Dubai Creek
04 227 1111
The understated dining room and soft clink clink of cutlery against porcelain scream (albeit very softly) fine dining, and it’s no secret that Verre is considered one of the very best restaurants in Dubai. And, since Michelin-starred guest chef Angela Harnett is in town to celebrate their 8th birthday this month, there’s never been a better time to visit!
The modern European menu is, like its founder Gordon Ramsay, no nonsense and bereft of fussiness – although unlike the famous Brit chef, it’s totally unintimidating. Staff are super-knowledgable and willing to accommodate all requests and queries, with the sommelier on-hand to match your wine to your dining picks.
To start, a slither of foie gras between two thin-to-the-pointof- transparency slices of crisp potato are served, along with, well ‘bread basket’ is too clumsy a name for the pot of crisp sticks and delish miniature bread filled with cream cheese that arrives – with an unbelievable aubergine puree accompaniment. For starters, the ravioli of lobster – one of Verre’s signature dishes – is divine, melding succulent lobster with delicate smoked salmon; or for a lighter option, the vine-tomato minestrone practically explodes with flavour.
After an amuse bouche of moreish mushroom cappuccino, duck, pork, scallops and fish are standout options for mains, and we opted for a steak so tender you could have cut it with a spoon, and fresh, pillow-soft lemon sole. For dessert, the peanut butter crème brulee is beyond your tongue’s imagination – and completely unforgettable!
Ahlan! has teamed up with Verre to offer one lucky reader a meal for two. To enter, simply log and answer the question online.
