Want an app that really gets you in the know about Dubai? You've got it! Dubai Smart Government (DSG) will reveal mDubai, among lots of other cool apps, at Gitex Technology Week 2013 which opens today (20 October) at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and continues until 24 October.

So what's mDubai all about? Well, the free app helps communicate with Dubai government departments and entities for real-time news and activities and contact details. iPhone users can access it under mDubai from the App Store.

mDubai offers features including viewing the most used eServices; accessing location maps of over 1,600 locations of important service providers in Dubai including police stations, pharmacies, hospitals, schools, shopping malls, parks, banks and also submitting feedback and complaints. You can also get notifications of interesting news in Dubai and search for government services.

Ahmad bin Humaidan, Director General of DSG, revealed that its smartphone applications, were in line with the smart government initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, for a prompt shift to smart government.
