Silver fox, fab actor and Charlie Sheen's dad – that's Martin Sheen for you and the star's headed to Dubai this December to receive the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) Lifetime Achievement Award for his distinguished service to the film industry. The award will be presented to Sheen Senior during the opening ceremony of the 10th edition of DIFF, which runs from 6-14 December 2013.

You probably know him best for playing President Josiah Bartlet in The West Wing (think six-time Emmy nominated performance!), but the actor's done a lot more ace work, including a super-dramatic turn in Francis Ford Coppola‘s classic Apocalypse Now as well as Badlands, Wall Street, Gandhi, Catch Me If You Can, The American President, The Departed and The Amazing Spider-Man.

DIFF Chairman Abdulhamid Juma said, "Martin Sheen is a cinematic legend whose remarkable career has spanned five decades. In that time he has brought to life a huge variety of compelling, intelligent and wonderfully engaging characters on the big and small screen. We are honoured to present Martin Sheen with a DIFF Lifetime Achievement Award and we look forward to welcoming him to Dubai.”

Martin Sheen himself added, "I am truly honored to accept the Dubai International Film Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award and looking forward to celebrating the region's gifted cinematic storytellers."

DIFF visitors will be able to attend a public In Conversation with Martin Sheen Q&A event that will be held during the course of the Festival. Watch this space for updates.
