Nicole Kidman
5ft 10½ (1.79m)
One minute rundown: Hawaiian born Kidman first shot to fame in Australia after her family moved there, in a movie that became a cult hit – Bush Christmas. In 1999 the ravishing redhead landed the lead role in chiller thriller, Dead Calm, alongside Sam Neill and Billy Zane. It did ok, you know... wasn’t a great success, although it was this that got her noticed by future hubby Tom Cruise, who created a role for her in Days of Thunder. When she met the shorty pants, apparently he took her breath away, and the couple married the following year in a ceremony that made the world’s women gush with envy. They starred in Far and Away together, a bit of a flop but romantic nonetheless and adopted two children, Isabella and Connor – the luckiest kids in Hollywood. A Golden Globe was presented for Kidman’s role in Gus Van Sant's To Die For, and her second movie, in which she starred alongside Cruise - Eyes Wide Shut - was received with greater appreciation than their last effort. A nude scene (and some otherwise fine acting) in London stage debut The Blue Room won her widespread praise, as did her part opposite Ewan Macgregor in Moulin Rouge – even though she broke a rib during filming. Now that's girlpower.
It was a bit of a shock (for her and the rest of the world) when Tom filed for divorce in 2001. No one knows exactly why - there were rumours of her cheating - although she held her head up high through his high-profile courtship of Katie Holmes and, after a stint with singer Lenny Kravitz, is now married to recovering alcoholic Keith Urban. Well, nobody’s perfect, eh Nicole?
