One minute rundown: We remember racing home from school in the 80s to catch our Kylie in Neighbours, especially when her character Charlene and the hunky Scott (Jason Donovan) got it together. The weepy wedding episode was the subject of conversation in every school playground for weeks. Kylie's pop career almost came naturally when she was signed after singing Locomotion at a benefit concert in 1987.

Number one hit, I Should Be So Lucky followed and her self titled album was a smash success, becoming the year's biggest selling album. A hit with co-star Jason followed - and again, Especially For You echoed throughout schools in England and Australia alike. Tours followed, as did more albums, a rumoured fling with Donovan and a relationship with French photographer Stephane Sednaoui.

Spinning Around and Can't Get You Outta My Head were huge hits, as were several roles she performed in movies, such as The Magic Roundabout and The Delinquents (early 90s) although tragedy struck in 2005 when Kylie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She made a full recovery and a new album is scheduled for November 2007. A perfume, Sweet Darling, is making shelves smell nice, too.
