One minute rundown: Who'd have thought a monologue about turtles at a summer camp could ever propel you onto the Hollywood fashion circuit, but that's just what happened to an eight year old called Mischa, when she was spotted by a talent scout. In 1995, she was cast by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner as a young Russian girl, opposite Marisa Tomei and later declared that Kushner was the reason she acted for a living.

Well... acting's one word for it, love. After playing a dead-girl in spook-fest The Sixth Sense, the skinny Barton bowed to Hollywood and after a string of bit parts, she was eventually cast as the obnoxious Marissa Cooper in the OC. After a successful run on Fox, which propelled her to stardom alongside her glamorous co-stars, her character was killed off and the show was cancelled. Although, apparently the movie makers are knocking on her door.
