One minute rundown: Scary Spice's life has been a rollercoaster ride, and she's still in the headlines for her spats with Eddie Murphy, who refused to acknowledge he was the father of Angel Iris, until a paternity test proved that he was indeed, the daddy. After the Spice Girls split up, Mel had a reasonably successful solo career - in 1998 I Want You Back provided her with her one and only number one slot on the singles charts.

Her marriage to dancer Jimmy Gulzar didn't work out and as well as a host of disappointing releases, she was criticised in 2001 for using her child Phoenix Chi as a marketing tool in the video to the single Lullaby. After a stint of TV presenting, Scary did the usual "look at me" thing by writing an autobiography which got to number seven in the book charts.

Another shot at a musical career saw her album, An LA State Of Mind, sell a measly 670 copies (uh oh) although a performance in the musical Rent gained her some positive feedback. After a few dabbles with "the other side", a relationship with Max Beesley and a lot of heartache from not-so-funny-man Eddie Murphy, Mel tied the knot with her besty boy mate and promises a top Spice Girls Reunion tour.
