Celeb Baby Body Bouncebacks!
Look at Jessica Simpson! OK, so she’s not magically transformed herself into Heidi Klum, but respect, she’s done pretty well to knock off 40lb since giving birth to Maxwell Drew earlier this year [1 May]. The new mum appeared on US chat show Katie [10 September] with host Katie Couric to show off the results of her Weight Watchers diet, which netted her US$4 million (Dhs15 million) for her trouble, and she didn’t look half bad.
Talking to Couric in her first interview since Maxwell’s birth, Jessica, who’s not known for her smarts, said, “During pregnancy, I didn’t really think about it. I thought whenever my water broke my whole entire stomach would go down but that did not happen.”
Er, no Jess, that’s not how it works, love. She continued, before her big bucks Weight Watchers ad (shot from the neck up!) aired, “I feel like what made me eat more is my hormones and breast-feeding. I’ve never wanted chocolate more in my life. I’ve really had to focus on my diet and concentrate on what I’m putting in my body.”
Jess dished to Access Hollywood, “The easiest way to get motivated is to strip naked and look in the mirror. It’s not fun to be talked about. It’s not fun to be judged. The very first time I got on the scale in my Weight Watchers meeting, my heart was pounding because I had no idea how much I weighed. I was always the girl who stood on the scale backwards because I didn’t want to face it.” Quite right, Jess! And she isn’t alone. Good old Mariah, she doesn’t do anything by halves does she? After piling on 70lb when pregnant with twins Moroccan and Monroe, Mariah signed up with diet guru Jenny Craig and lost 30lb after ditching 40lb of “water weight” on her own. Maz couldn’t exercise for the first few weeks after she had “dem babies” with hubby Nick Cannon, so credits her new bod to eating well. She told chat show host Rosie O’Donnell, “The diet is 90 per cent of it.” While the Daily Mail spilled, “She eats calorie controlled meals, including soups, and did gentle exercise.”
Reality star Kendra Wilkinson was another T’Towner who really went to town when she was pregnant. Packing on 70lb before signing up to reveal her hot new post-baby bod in record time. Oh dear. Curvy Kendra, who’s a tiny 5ft, took a year to ditch all of the weight she packed on in ‘09 when she was preggers with her son Hank, and recently came to the defence of fellow mum Jessica Simpson. She told Yahoo OMG, “I feel for her. I was in the same boat. People just need to mind their own business. That’s a woman who just gave birth.” Ahh, sweet, Kendra!
The usually perfectly proportioned star packed on 40lb when she was pregnant with twins Max and Emme but managed to ditch half of it in five weeks. OMG! When the second 20lb didn’t shift as fast, she started the famous Dukan diet (K-Middy loves it!) to drop the rest. Explaining her weightloss she said, “I worked out a lot. I struggled to get rid of the last 20 pounds. I had to change my eating habits after having the twins. I eat a lot less now than I used to.” The then 40-year-old also admitted she was shocked at the size of her pregnant body.
Kourtney K might be shifting her 45 extra baby pounds sensibly the second time around (she’s been taking it slow since popping out Penelope Scotland in July) but she lost her first round of baby weight crazy fast. When she was pregnant with son Mason in 2009, Kourt packed on 45lb before signing a big bucks magazine deal for shots of her in a bikini. Error! She ditched 33lb in three months with a gruelling regime but ended up collapsing during a run. Kourtney later admitted she was “embarrassed” at how far she took her skinny obsession.
