Baggage Issues: Two men have been arrested after going through bags

We’ve travelled through Dubai airport hundreds of times and used all three terminals for our holiday getaways, and never once have we ever lost our luggage or discovered that our bags have been tampered with.

But according to a court report from The National, some travellers were unlucky enough to have their belongings rifled through.

The newspaper claim that two DXB baggage handlers stole chewing gum and chocolate from passengers’ luggage after attempting to steal cash from the bags.

The two men, who are Kenyan, are accused of taking a Dhs3 packet of chewing gum, and a Dhs5 bar of chocolate. They’ve both been fired from their jobs and have denied the charges at Dubai Criminal Court.

The prosecutors claimed the two men were searching through bags that had landed in Dubai off a flight from Bangkok and only took the sweet treats because they couldn’t find anything of greater value. A verdict is expected on 23 February.
