Apple Pay launches in UAE

Apple Pay has officially launched in the UAE, so next time you're heading out you'll only need your phone.

Customers with an iPhone 6 or above, owning a credit card from one of the following six banks, are eligible for Apple Pay:

  1. Mashreq Bank
  2. Emirates NBD
  3. Emirates Islamic
  4. RAK Bank
  5. HSBC
  6. Standard Chartered

Apple Pay can be used anywhere contactless payment terminals are available, such as the wireless credit card readers in most retailers around the UAE, reports Gulf News

The UAE is Apple Pay's first Middle Eastern market, and the total number of countries where the service is currently available has now gone up to 20. Apple Pay will compete directly with a similiar service offered by Samsung, titled Samsung Pay, and BEAM, an e-payment service which has been available in the UAE since 2012.

You can set up Apple Pay on your iPhone using the Wallet app, an inbuilt application in all iPhones.

We've already started using it, have you?
