Everyone’s wearing...Bolt from the bolt
Cobalt blue was the modern shot of colour that dominated the catwalk. Mix it up with other primary colours like Rubin Singer and Jonathan Saunders, or choose accessories to instantly update your wardrobe.
Dusty pastels
This spring, catwalks were awash with sugar-sweet pastels. Wear with heavy jewellery for a rock twist as seen at Zac Posen, or stay fabulously feminine with Kenzo’s catwalk rosebuds.
Macabre
Unusually, the spring shows had a touch of the sinister about them, as played out at McQueen. Choose a print to reference the body’s structure or a bone-shaped necklace as seen at Lacroix.
Ruffles
We all love a ruffle, and next season they will be everywhere! Stick to wearing them in places you don’t mind being looked at – try camisoles and scarves as a nod to the trend if you’re not keen on full-on flounce!
Out of Africa
Embellishment, khakis, safari suits… take your pick from this wildcard trend for spring/summer. Keep it super cool like Ralph Lauren in khakis and golds, or go for Masai-style brights – as seen at Matthew Williamson – for a bolder take on this perennial fave.
Oriental
Origami folds brought Eastern promise to the catwalks for spring a la Lacroix. To make this trend more wearable, choose bold exotic florals, or recreate the obi-belt look by wearing a waist-cincher over a jacket or dress, as seen at Naeem Khan.
