After 17 years of having her hair teased, straightened, dyed and frizzed, all in the name of fashion, it's no wonder that Tyra Banks' hair is said to be in danger of disappearing altogether. In fact, the former supermodel is said to be so scared of losing her barnet, she wears an array of wigs and hair extensions to keep her mane intact.

"Tyra is a confident woman for the most part, but she is really insecure about her hair," spilled an insider. "She doesn't want any guy to see her without her wigs or hair extensions."

Wigs, eh? What happened to all that ‘accept who you are' stuff on your show, Tyra?

If there's one thing Tyra thrives on, it's controversy. Having devoted TV shows to having a mammogram live on air to prove her breasts are real, dressing up in a fat suit to sympathise with the obese and even dedicating one show entirely to lower lady parts, it would come as no surprise that she'd been donning hair pieces to ‘investigate' alopecia.

And if her reaction to reports that she'd been piling on the kilos is anything to go by - "Kiss my fat a**," she yelled on her show - it won't be long before the mouthy mogul hits back at claims that "If she wakes up without her glamorous hair, she's worried [a man] may not call back!"
