Stars flood in for DIFF
Will you set your eyes on George Clooney next week?
Stars flood in for DIFFNo more rumours folks, it's all official! As the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) gears up for its fourth year, more international stars than ever before have confirmed they'll be making an appearance on our sunny shores, including actors, musicians and literary figures from Hollywood, East Asia and around the world. How exciting!
Bagsy first dibs on George Clooney, who's set to attend the Opening Night Gala. Sharon Stone too, will chair the inaugural amfAR Cinema against AIDS dinner, to which Chinese actress Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, 2000) and Viacom Chairman Sumner Redstone. Hayden Christiansen, who played Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars films will also be heading. Have you had your invite yet??
Word just in: American actor, producer and activist Danny Glover, and Korean master director Im Kwon-taek will be presented with the DIFF's annual Lifetime Achievement Award at a special ceremony on December 15. Those lucky peeps.
Novelist Paulo Coelho, known for enormously successful novels including The Alchemist and The Zahir, will give the keynote address at the festival's iconic Cultural Bridge Panel, and more excitingly Latin music superstar Gloria Estefan and her record-producer and filmmaker husband Emilio Estefan will both make their Middle Eastern debut at DIFF. Do you think she'll do the Conga?
Gloria will perform at Rhythm and Reels, a series of evenings pairing a musical film with a live performance, in conjunction with the World Premiere of Emilio's film 90 Millas.
What a line up - we've all got to keep our eyes open for celebs once the DIFF is on (December 9-16). If you see any out and about, soaking up the sights like regular tourists, make sure to let us know!
