British singer Joss Stone has defended her right to dye her hair bright colours, branding the attention paid to her coiffure "irritating".

The 20-year-old - who insists upon dying her hair herself - wishes the intense media scrutiny was aimed at her music, rather than her ever-changing hairstyles.

She says, "The reason I keep changing the colour is to make the point that I sound the same whether I'm blonde or purple or blue. I sound the same whether I'm fat or thin or tall or short.

"It's funny, it made people really angry when I changed my hair colour. 'Who is she to think that she can have pink hair?' Well, I'm sorry but I like my pink hair."

She's just so deep, isn't she girls? (Er, no).
