For all his three-hour, meet-the-fans walkabouts and his public declarations of love for third wife, Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise's life isn't as much of an open book as the actor would like to make out. And now, with the looming threat of a tell-all expose on the star written by Princess Diana's biographer, Andrew Morton, sources say Tom is furious at the possible secrets the unauthorised book will reveal. So angry, in fact, that Morton himself believes his life is in danger, allegedly telling the Sunday Express, "I have received threats from the Scientologists." Ahlan! reveals some of the secrets the actor doesn't want dredged up...

Secret 1
"Threats" For Biographer
The scribe behind the upcoming expose, Andrew Morton, has allegedly told British newspapers that digging into the actor's links to Scientology has seen him targeted and threatened by members of the shady ‘religion'.

"I've received threats from the Scientologists and things have become pretty heavy... it's almost more than my lawyers can handle," he revealed. "I've sold my flat and I'm not telling anyone where I'm moving to. I intend to disappear for a while."

And sources say Andrew told them that his research into members of the royal family, for previous books, was "a walk in the park" compared to delving into Tom's controversial beliefs

Secret 2
The Blackmailer's "Apparent Suicide"

Hollywood insiders are still divided over the demise of LA publicist David Hans Schmidt, who was found dead just days after being found guilty of trying to extort money from Cruise, this year. Under house arrest after he pled guilty to trying to get Dhs3.6 million in exchange for stolen wedding photos of Tom and Katie's 2006 nuptials, David was found dead in his home, having apparently hung himself.

Secret 3

The Dhs360 Million "Marriage Contract"

Tom and Katie have long denied they have a marriage contract, but sources, this week, insist it does exist and it "runs about 100 pages long".

"In it, Tom is said to have pledged a sliding scale of bonus-like payments to Katie based on the number of years they're wed," spilled a mole. "But the... star sweetened the pot considerably to keep Katie out of the divorce court. Just by reaching the one-year milestone, Katie is guaranteed up to $70 million [Dhs250 million]. If the marriage lasts five years, she could get an estimated $10 million [Dhs36 million] extra."

Secret 4
Tom's Fury Over South Park

The actor's alleged anger over the now infamous episode of South Park, which mocked Scientology, and in which the cartoon character of Tom was repeatedly told to "come out of the closet", led, say insiders, to the studio pulling a planned repeat off of the air.

And studio insiders claim Tom threatened to "back out of his Mission: Impossible III promotional duties if Viacom didn't pull a repeat of the episode."

Secret 5

Tom and Katie Sleep In Separate Rooms

The pair may be keen to dispel any notions that they enjoy nothing if not a very normal marriage, but rumours continue to dog them about their sleeping arrangements.

"When Katie moved into the house, it was made clear that Tom occupied the north wing of the second floor and that she would occupy a cluster of suites on the south wing of the same floor," said a close source. "She designed the room of her dreams, a very feminine room painted in pastel colours, with a small carousel and filled with many stuffed animals. Katie is fine with it."

Secret 6
Katie Was Tom's Fifth ‘Choice' For Wife

Rumours continue to swirl that Tom and Katie's whirlwind courtship was the direct result of a career-damaging incident in Cruise's personal life, and sources maintain that Katie came in at number five on the ‘Potential Wives' List. Insiders insist that Jessica Alba was number one choice, followed by Kate Bosworth, Scarlett Johansson, a pre-trainwreck Lindsay Lohan was at four, and Katie lagged behind at five. However, apparently Katie was the one with whom Tom's people could strike a deal.

Too Scared To Speak Out?
She was married to Tom for almost 10 years, but even his ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, refuses to comment on Scientology. Said to be deeply unhappy that her two adopted children, Isabella, 14, and Connor, 12, are being brought up to believe in the bizarre doctrine, which she herself dabbled in to please her then-husband, Nicole, who has recently opened up about her miscarriages and husband Keith's alcoholism, is staying tight-lipped on Scientology. "Yes, they're being raised as Scientologists. I don't want to go there," Nicole told Marie Claire magazine.
