Billy-Bob's confession fuels Brangelina's split rumours.

BILLY BOB THORNTON has praised his ex-wife ANGELINA JOLIE, calling her "one of my best friends in the world" - and adding to speculation that she and BRAD PITT are set to split.

The former couple married in 2000 and adopted seven-year-old son Maddox together, before divorcing in 2003.

But despite their divorce Billy-Bob say he has only fond memories of Angelina, now mother to six adopted and biological children with Brad.

The couple's relationship has been under the microscope in recent weeks with claims the pressure of having such a huge brood has driven them apart, with Brad spending a lot of time away from home.

But the couple have spoken out to deny the claims, saying the actor was only away from his family while he was committed to promote his new film, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.

But Billy-Bob's confession that he and Ange are still best friends has added fuel to the rumours.

He says: "I've never said anything but good things about any relationship I've had and, frankly, that's all I remember about them.

"I have the utmost respect for Angelina. She's a very sweet person, very talented and one of my best friends in the world."
