The record-breaking film, starring CHRISTIAN BALE and HEATH LEDGER, has taken just six weeks to reach the half-million figure - half the time it took Titanic, which remains the only film to have made more at the U.S. domestic box office.

After Sunday's estimates, The Dark Knight has now made a total of $502.4 million.
