A bitter break-up

Unlike most Hollywood break-ups, which end with both sides saying how “amicable” it all was, it seems that JOHN MAYER’S impromptu press conference outside his gym last week has sparked a bitter row between him and his very recent ex, JENNIFER ANISTON.

The actress, said to be shocked that he spoke out, is, according to insiders, “determined to behave like a lady”, but close pals have already hit out at “childish”, “spoiled” John.

‘Tension for some time’
Things haven’t gone smoothly for John, 30, and Jen, 39, for a while, claim friends.

“There’s been tension for some time,” a source told the Mirror. “They initially opted for a break, hoping a trial split might make them stronger. Sadly it doesn’t seem to have worked. John took the decision to end things as he felt he just wasn’t ready for the level of commitment that Jennifer deserved.”

She wanted future plans
Sources close to the Derailed star say, “Contrary to reports, Jen didn’t want to have kids or marry this year.” But pals have said that the actress was pressing for a show of commitment – “She did want to set a timetable for their future together. She also wanted him to assure her he would cut down his tours in the future when they did eventually have children.”

‘Philandering’ to blame?
On the road for much of their fledgling relationship, rumours abound that John enjoyed a couple of flings – with insiders claiming that Jen drew the line at his alleged third dalliance.

“[She gave him a] three strikes and you’re out [ultimatum],” claimed one, who added that John allegedly indulged in “quickie” flings with a waitress and a tour assistant, but that it was his third flirtation with a groupie that finally ended things.

“Above everything else, Jen is looking for stability and loyalty,” spilled a Hollywood executive pal. “She’s still hurting from losing Brad to Angelina – even after all this time.”

‘No chemistry’
Although Jen’s stayed tight-lipped about the split, John spoke to reporters outside of his gym in New York, last week.

“There’s no lying, there’s no cheating, there’s no nothing,” insisted John. “People are different, people have different chemistry. I ended a relationship to be alone, because I don’t want to waste somebody’s time if something’s not right.”

And friends of Jen have revealed all about her reaction to the split – “Initially, Jennifer was furious when he told her of his decision, but now she’s simply sad – not to mention a little heartbroken.”

‘He never ends things properly…’
The pair have gone out of their way to put a mature public face on the split.

“They’ve spoken on the phone since the split and are trying to remain on good terms,” said a friend. “But unless John has a dramatic change of heart, it’s unlikely they’ll rekindle their romance.”

And John’s praised Jen as “the smartest, most sophisticated person I think I have ever met.”

But pals of John have said Jen could be in for a rough emotional ride over the next few weeks as he readjusts to single status.

“He never ends things with a clean slate,” spilled a pal. “He likes to dwell on these relationships.”

“Childish” , “spoiled” John!
Jen is said to be adamant it was she who ended things.

“It’s she who ended the relationship. John’s childish behaviour only confirms she was right to dump him,” spilled a pal. “Now he’s acting like a spoiled child.”

Claims also abound that John was a tightwad who took advantage of Jen’s A-list status, with a source saying, “Jennifer was tired of paying for everything.
